Danny Pino stars in the hot series Hotel Cocaine as Roman Compte. Hotel Cocaine tells the story of the Mutiny Hotel and how it became the epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene in the late 1970s and early ’80s. At the center of it all is general manager Roman Compte, a Cuban exile doing his best to keep it all going and fulfill his American dream. The overall series is amazing. Cast members Michael Chiklis and Yul Vazquez bring it all together with an exceptional performance.
I asked Danny Pino What did it take to become Roman Compte? He replied, There’s a sense of responsibility first. I happen to know Roman’s son and work with Roman’s son, Maurice Conte, who’s an executive producer on our show he was a colleague of mine on Mayans MC. So he’s a fantastic actor in his own right. Then I knew that Chris Brancado, our showrunner and main writer, was taking that as the foundation and then fictionalizing the majority. That gave me license to sort of play right, and not have to adhere to who the person was strictly.
