‘It Ends With Us’ Touches More Than Just Hearts

It Ends With Us tells the story of Blake Lively (Lily Bloom) who moves to Boston to chase her lifelong dream of opening her own business. When meeting a charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) soon sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, she begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle gets upended, leaving her with an impossible choice.

The Story

It Ends With Us is a romance novel by Colleen Hoover, published by Atria Books on August 2, 2016. Based on the relationship between her mother and father. Exploring themes of emotional abuse, domestic violence, and how some people stay in it because they think they’re supposed to for love. The movie may be triggering to some but the message is clear.

The Cast

Blake Lively does an amazing job bringing Lily Bloom to life while taking you on this emotional roller coaster ride. Justin Baldoni as Ryle may be a tad bit hard to swallow throughout the film but his complexity balances out the importance of the story. Brandon Sklenar (Atlas Corrigan) comes through saving the day without fail. My favorite character Jenny Slate as Allysa who must be a sister to her brother Ryle and at the same time be a friend to Lily I feel she is split down the line the entire movie, but remains true to herself.
