Opus Movie Review: Ayo Edebri and John Malkovich suspense thriller…

Ayo Edebri: as Ariel Ecton

A 90’s icon popstar Alfred Moretti (played by John Malkovich) decides to come out of retirement after 30 years hiatus to announce his new album. Media is in a frenzy to get at the new music. Ariel (played by Ayo Edebri) a young journalist who has the gifts but never gets the credits she deserves, is invited along with 5 other guests to attend a listening party hosted by Moretti. once they arrive, it is very obvious that they are in a cult atmosphere. Ariel despite her enthusiasm of meeting Alfred, she starts to investigate the compound they are visiting especially when one of the guest becomes absent.

The movie eventually takes a turn and has the audience laughing but horrified at the same time. The film reflects a mixture from the movie “Get Out” and “The Menu” where you want to know where the group is headed and who will survive. Ayo and John definitely bring their A game to their character roles. Interesting enough, the storyline is very relatable to what’s happening in the world today. The ultimate surprise is the soundtrack entitled “Tomorrow” which is performed by Malkovich and written by Nile Rodgers and The Dream. He has great vocals.

This film did it’s job in captivating the audience so I definitely will rate it a (3/4) 🍿 must see in theaters Friday March 14th,,,
