The African American Film Critics Association had it’s 16 annual AAFCA Awards in Beverly Hills. This prestigious event took place in Wednesday February 19th at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel. The AAFCA organization is proud to honor from their selection of top 10 films of the year. The winners are being recognized for their outstanding contributions in film.

The event was hosted by comedian tv personality Amber Ruffin. Showing her charm, smile, and funny nature. The special attendees invited were Ted Saranos, Tyler Perry, Lynn Whitfield, Kim Whitely, Tyler Lepley and more. Actor Colman Domingo was a winner for best actor in the film “Sing, Sing“. Other winners were Marianne Jean-Baptiste for best actress in “Hard Truths“, Clarence Maclin for best supporting actor in “Sing, Sing“. Danielle Deadwyler won for best supporting actress from the film ‘The Piano Lesson“, Kris Bowers won best original score for the movie “Wild Robot“, Ramell Ross won for best director of ” Nickel Boys“. “Nickel Boys” won best picture.

Also in attendance as honored guest were the fire responders in recognition of their heroic efforts during the recent wildfires in LA. Gil Robertson, the co-founder and President of AAFCA presided over the event.
