Griff and Nathan Furst put a unique spin on a classic, ensuring you’ll be entertained the entire time. The action horror comedy “A Breed Apart” stars Grace Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardner, and Hayden Panettiere. The story follows a group of influencers who embark on a challenge to win an entire island and boost their social status. However, there’s a twist: the remote island is abandoned and overrun by an overwhelming number of crazed dogs. Now, the group finds themselves in a harrowing situation filled with terror and adrenaline-fueled chaos.
How did the A Breed Apart project originate?
Well, we make films, and when people come to us with ideas, we consider them. So, someone approached us with this project, and they were like, “Hey, do you want to make a sequel to this 2006 movie, The Breed, which we had never seen before?” I was like, “Man, this is just a straightforward creature feature that’s been done like 700 times. I don’t really want to make that, but if we can make it really fast-paced and infuse it with a lot of comedy, I’m down.” Then, I went to him, who’s great at coming up with original ideas. I told my brother, “How could you make this fun to make?” And he came up with the idea of a movie within a movie and all the whole premise of it. So, we went from there.

What were the challenges in making the film?
The entire endeavor was an immense challenge. In fact, it could have been a Mr. Beast-style game show conducted behind the scenes. Imagine this: we were given a budget, limited time in Guatemala, in a country that is extremely underdeveloped. To make matters worse, the location was on an island that could only be reached by boat. As a result, the cast and filmmakers were bonded forever by this crazy adventure. However, all these factors combined made the challenge extremely difficult. It was like a race against time. We basically went months without sleeping to capture all that action. Viewers saw it as wall-to-wall action, but not the budget required to create such action. Fortunately, everyone was incredibly enthusiastic and, essentially, producing alongside us to make the best movie we could with the resources we had. And, that’s what we did, create an awesome movie.
A Breed Apart is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
