Since former Vice-President Kamala Harris didn’t win the presidential election, Amazon MGM Studios decided to give us a African American female President in the action thriller ‘G20’. I thought it would be interesting to see how this would play out since I did see Viola Davis in action in the film ‘The Woman King’. I felt she could be capable of doing another action movie. Davis had the fashion style of former first lady Michelle Obama, yet the fight and will like other actors that played presidents such as Harrison Ford and Jamie Foxx. Must say Viola was able to handle this character like no other.

After an embarrassing moment by her daughter Serena (played by Marsai Martin) that went viral, Danielle takes her husband Derek (played by Anthony Anderson), Serena and her brother to South Africa to the g20 summit with world leaders. Sutton is hoping this meeting will forge better intranational relations and public opinion back in the US. Little do they know that the event is a setup and the members of the summit are taken hostage by terrorist. Sutton along with her security service agent and few other leaders, manage to escape. They must find a way to help fee the hostages’ and stop the terrorist from causing an world war by broadcasting false images from various leaders about corruption and forcing people to place their money in cryptocurrency.

This film had great action to keep the audience engaged. Viola’s character is no superhero but an older wounded veteran. So most of her fight scenes was basically willed and showed the human frailty. Yet, she manages to push on and do what she must do to save the people. This is what has you rooting for her. Event the song for the movie “Higher” by Asiahn & Asia Bryant, gets you pumped up for the president to take on the task at hand

The movie had a great story line and keeps you in suspense. The relationship between Viola and Anthony was no too convincing because you can see an age difference (just my opinion). However, still enjoyed the film and rate it a (3/4) 🍟 must see on Prime Video starting April 10th…
