“Bring Her Back” is an Australian supernatural horror film directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. As the duo’s follow-up to their successful horror film “Talk to Me,” it continues to showcase their distinct style. The film is noted for its strong writing, which effectively appeals to the emotions of the characters and draws the audience into a sense of eerie realism, making viewers wonder if such events could truly occur.
Despite its grounded emotional core, this film also features twisted moments that maintain suspense and keep the audience on edge. The narrative is designed to subvert expectations, often steering the story in unexpected directions just when viewers believe they have predicted the outcome.
The pace of the movie was actually pretty good. Sometimes scary movies can start off real slow and by the time it builds up to the action, you’ve lost interest. This was not the case. It starts off dismal so it’s setting up for more depressing things to come. Such a curious and weird way of how people choose to deal with the death of a loved. one.

So what makes this film so spooky, well it begins with a brother and sister who really care for one another. The sister Piper is blind and her brother Andy tries to shield her from negativity. But that suddenly changes when they come home to find their father dead. Since Andy is not eighteen, the two are put into foster care with Laura, Now Laura is grieving also. She lost her daughter to an accidental drowning. There’s another kid living with her name Oliver who walks and acts like a zombie. Once you see Oliver, you kind a know that this living arrangement was a setup.
Losing a child topped with deep grief, can have any parent going over the edge. So much so until their stuck living in the past and never moving on in life. This depicts the very nature of this sad tale of a mother wanting to bring her dead daughter back to life. Not trying to give too much away but Oliver, has you questioning Laura’s real motives. Though the film doesn’t have an original music score, the sound effects help give it that intensity you look for in a horror movie.
Rate this film a (3/4) 🍟 must see in theaters May 30th…
