Speak No Evil Review: James McAnvoy has the audience talking…

Speak No Evil is an English version remake of the 2022 Dutch film. Written and directed by James Watkins, this horror film brings back the old times when the audience is interacting with the character’s on screen. The movie starts off slow but it builds and saves the best for last. The story has a couple being invited to stay with a couple they barely knew, to spend a weekend at their country house. As you can see, this already was going in the wrong direction.

Louise Dalton (played by Mackenzie Davis) is the wife of the couple that decides to visit Paddy (played James McAvoy) and his family. Louise trying to please her husband and help her daughter to mature. Paddy seems to be too good to be true lulls you into this free spirit until Paddy’s son Ant tries to warn the daughter that something is wrong. That’s when the drama begins. It takes you on a journey you never thought would happen.

Cast members red carpet premiere

This film has 2 classic songs, “Eternal Flames” by The Bangles where Paddy attempts to sing to Louise’s husband as a tool to build up his self esteem. The other classic is “Heaven is a Place on Earth” by Belinda Carlisle. This film did accomplish it job of bringing on the tension and will have people speaking no evil on this movie. I rate this film a (3/4) 🍿 and opens in theaters September 13th…
