Based on the comic strip Garfield created by Jim Davis, this film is directed by Mark Dindal. If you are a cat lover and particularly a Garfield fan, you will enjoy this movie. Bringing this cat figure from the pages of newspaper to screen seems to be a hard task. So having to pick the right actors and actresses to play these roles to give Garfield it’s just do must have been top priority when casting Chris Pratt as Garfield…
Chris Pratt has the duty of playing the lazy, fat, funny, and cynical orange Persian cat. Playing the role of an animated character takes some skills. Having to embody this fictitious character and make it come to life on screen, have to make sure you have down pack. Pratt gives the audience that authentic Garfield we are use seeing on print. It seems like Pratt really employed himself and brought the childlike feature for everyone to enjoy.
Pratt was director Dindal’s first choice to be the voice of Garfield. He did not make a mistake in judgment. He really felt that Pratt’s voice would capture the lazy, sarcastic of Garfield.
So what’s this Garfield movie all about? Well first, we get a glimpse of his early childhood. Abandoned by his father Vic (played by Samuel L. Jackson), he meets his future owner John Arbuckle (played by Nicholas Hoult) and find out early what kind of appetite he has. Garfield life takes a turn when he and Odie are kidnapped to be reunited with his street cat father on a high risk adventure. What’s most interesting which nobody seems to ask or say is how does a cat have a dog as a pet?
This film comes with an original soundtrack entitled “Let It Roll” featuring Keith Urban and Snoop Dogg. This song definitely fits the personality of the Garfield Movie. We rate this film a (3/4) 🍿🍿🍿 must see in theaters the Memorial Day weekend.
