Georgia and Georgia Tech had their annual state rivalry called “Clean, Old Fashioned Hate” This rivalry goes back to 1893. Expectation of this game was pretty high considering both teams have decent records. Georgia has a 11-1 while Tech is 9-3 for the season. Coming into this game I felt that Tech was going to have an edge after coming off a loss last week that knock them out of the ACC Championship (maybe). Bulldogs on the other hand must keep winning to keep their playoff hopes alive and possible chance to make it in the SEC Championship. Lot riding for both teams, so expecting this game to be a dog fight.
The game was held at a neutral territory, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta GA where the SEC Championship will commence. This was a defensive slug fest. Both teams were struggling to to move the ball. Georgia had a edge in the 260-250 total yards margin however, their quarterback Gunner Stockton only threw for total of 70 yards. Yellow Jackets did make it interesting by kicking a field goal late in the fourth quarter to be only down seven points. And with one second left, Tech’s quarterback Haynes King throws a hail Mary towards the end zone. But Georgia’s defense was able to knock the ball down and hold of Georgia Tech with a 16-9 victory.

The victory gives Georgia the right to claim the state of Georgia. To add a cherry on top, no. 3 Texas A&M lost their rivalry game against no. 23 Texas, which help the Bulldogs enter the SEC Championship game on Saturday, December 6th. They will play either Alabama or Ole Miss.
Georgia Tech needs a miracle to happen. Miami, SMU, and Virginia will have to lose on Saturday in order for the Yellow Jackets to get in the ACC Championship game. Possible!
