2026 Winter Olympics: Alysa Liu Wins gold in Women’s Figure Skating as Team USA Women’s Hockey Captures Gold.

If you have not been tuning into the Winter Olympics, you are missing out. These events have been so competitive and emotional. Knowing these athletes have trained so hard to have this one moment in history to represent their country, is pretty nerve racking. Face it, it’s not like our regular sports that happen every year. This tournament happens every four years which means, you have to jump at the opportunity when it presents itself. Laying it all on the line to be able to stand on the podium with a medal around your neck ad hearing your countries national anthem is amazing and sometimes hard to conceive.

Team USA delivered historic performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics as Alysa Liu captured gold in women’s single figure skating and the USA Women’s Hockey Team claimed Olympic gold. Liu’s stunning routine secured her place among America’s elite Olympic champions, while the women’s hockey squad showcased dominance on the ice in a championship winning performance that electrified fans worldwide.

USA favorite Amber Glenn had a disappointing performance in the short program landing her in 13th place. So going into the free skate, she had really nothing to lose. Fortunately for her, she put on her best performance and landed in 1st place. She held the lead for much of the night and it was looking like a miracle come back was in tow. Now it came down to the the top three from the previous night which included her fellow team mate Alysa, who was in 3rd place in the short program. Liu during her warmups was very relaxed, taking pictures, smiling, and just enjoying the moment. She skated so eloquently and effortlessly. You wouldn’t believe she had only been back skating a short while after retiring after the 2022 Olympics. She showed no rust at all. Just gold!

Joining Liu in meddling gold was the USA Women’s Hockey team. They had close call in their match against Canada. The Canadians were leading until a little over two minutes left in the game when Hilary Knight scored to force overtime. In overtime, Megan Keller scored the winning goal. This is the the third time the USA women’s hockey team has won gold and all against Canada.
