The African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) hosted the 2025 Special Achievement Awards Luncheon at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Sunday, February 2nd. This extraordinary event celebrates the diverse and influential voices shaping the cinematic landscape. One attendee, Legendary actress Lynn Whitfield, received the Legacy Award.

Gil Robertson: AAFCA President and Founder

This annual invitation-only awards ceremony honored individuals for their prolific contributions to the entertainment industry. Hosted by the President and Founder of AAFCA Gil Robertson, this event had extinguish guests and presenters to attend. The list consist of Keith David, Kelley Rowland, Devon Franklin, J Alphonse Nicholson, Deric Augustine, Kathryn Bostic, Jennifer and Kat Kramer.

Other honorees acknowledged were Brandon Wilson and Ethan Herisse from the movie “Nickel Boys“, received the Next Gen Award. Filmmaker and photographer RaMell Ross was handed the Karen & Stanley Kramer Social Justice Award. Amber Rasberry, senior film executive for Amazon Studios, was honored with the Horizon Award. Singer/Songwriter Taura Stinson collected the Ascension Award.
