If you looking for that movie to thrill you for the Halloween season, “Never Let Go” will be on the list. This survivor horror film directed by Alexandre Aje and written by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, brings a script about a mother with twin boys llving in a house deep in the woods to prevent from being cursed by the evil spirits. Tormented daily, this family learns to survive against these deadly forces.
So let’s dive into these characters. First, the twin boys Samuel (played by Anthony B. Jenkins) and Nolan (played by Percy Daggs, IV) live under the rule of their mother’s fear and psychotic notion that the are being haunted. As long as they keep roped to the house, they could never be taken by the spirits that are out there to get them. These young actors acted as season veterans. They will have you wanting to help them escape the horror.
Second, Academy Award winner Halle Berry plays “Momma” in one of the first horror films she has starred in a while. Momma keeps a close eye on the twins to protect them from the evil forces. Ms. Berry role is based upon her own experiences as a mother. She also stated that this film dealt with generational trauma which drew her to the part. And with this psychological thriller centering around this generational trauma, it will make you question, is this real?
Director and cast member’s point of view:
There’s no soundtrack to the movie. just the usual sound effects to help enhance the terror. This film reminds me of how scary films were made back in the day. Definitely entertaining and worth seeing. I rate this film (3/4) 🍿 In theaters September 20th..
