Hold Your Breath is a psychological horror film directed by Karrie Crouse and Will Joines, written by Crouse. This Hulu film is as it’s title. Taking place in Oklahoma during the 1930’s dust storms. I found myself waiting to see what was going to out of the dust storms. The movie had your focus on what will the horror that will eventually traumatize this family. The fact these families were willing to stay and live under these conditions was baffling. Kind of reminds you of what’s going on in our society today. The denial of the existence of climate change with all these hurricanes and the emergency agencies advising people to evacuate and they elect not to. Same happen here where the strong winds swirling the dirt so immensely where it clogs your lungs having to hold their breath.
Margaret (played by Sarah Paulson) is the mother of two daughters who tries to keep her family safe while her husband is out of state working to support his family. She seems to be an upstanding citizen and really cares for her neighbors. However, as time goes on, her erratic behavior while she sleeps, will have you change your mind about her real intentions.
Cast riveting moments
The music tracks use for the film is pretty basic. Nothing really steps out. When Margaret was finally convince to birthday party, country music for that time period was used and fitting for that scene. Not much to write home about yet effective. This film was very entertaining and will be worth watching on Hulu. I rate this a (3/4) 🍿 Streaming on Hulu Thursday, October 3rd…
