Julia Garner Transforms Into a Scream Queen in Weapons

Actor Julia Garner stars in the psychological horror film Weapons, which takes viewers on a thrilling ride that will leave them questioning what’s happening. The movie tells the story of a mysterious disappearance that occurs on the same night at exactly the same time, leaving a community bewildered and questioning who or what is behind it. This seemingly ordinary event spirals into something far more sinister than anyone could have imagined. Directed by Zach Cregger, the mastermind behind the original horror film Barbarian, Weapons features an ensemble cast including Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. In an interview with Julia Garner, she shared her insights into the film.

How was it working with director Zach Cregger?

He’s the epitome of a visionary. He thinks outside the box, is incredibly original, and is direct in his vision. However, he also allows others to play in their own way. When something is truly great, he doesn’t interfere and lets you do your own thing. But when you need help, he comes in and says, “Nope, this is exactly what it is, but it’s the best.”

Your character Justine, what did you think of her when you first introduce?

The thing that I always found interesting with her is that her intention was very pure, but the execution was sometimes a little, like, up in the air. And her heart, she has a very big heart, and I personally love characters and scenes and just films that her characters starts out, you think it starts out one way and ends completely differently. Yeah, I just there’s something that I love about a little bit of a messy teacher that I was like, okay. I love it.

I do think towards the end though, I think she grows up. I think in the beginning, she kind of feels like an adult child. And I think that’s why she has an easy time relating to the kids. And then by the end of it, she has to grow up. There’s a there’s like a switch in a way.

What will audiences like about Weapons?

How wild it is, and how they probably want know what direction it’s going in and I think they’re just going to be talking about it because there’s never been anything like it.
